The Benton County RC Club sponsors, through volunteer instructor pilots, a program to allow those interested to learn how to fly RC aircraft, at no charge. This program starts Tuesday, May 13. The club has chosen Tuesday nights and restricts the field to only instructors and students on that night. Although it is not required for training, having the student own an airplane and radio would be advantages to help the student learn on his/her own plane. Most instructors use a "buddy-box" system for instructing, so the students radio must have a connection for that purpose.
If the potential student wishes to learn more, that person can either come to the flying field or go to Trump's hobbies to get all the information and gear needed to begin a fun hobby of RC flying. It is highly recommended the student does this prior to purchasing any planes or radios. There are usually flyers at the field on nice days, starting around 9:00am until dusk, who will be glad to answer any of your questions.
Once we begin the "trainer night", it will be from around 5:30pm - dusk.
One final item: We will be glad to check out your little park flyer, but will not teach you how to fly it. We instruct on trainers (40 size and larger) either fuel or electric only. No scale or aerobatic aircraft. We currently have no helicopter instruction set up, at this time.
