April Meeting Minutes

New Pylon Racing Plane Selected

Due to difficulty obtaining enough of the originally decided upon Hyperion Reno Racer, we had to act fast and select another aircraft. Fortunately, Jim Trump was able to secure access to sufficient numbers of the Phase 3 P-51D Mustang. This plane will be offered at the same price as the originally selected Reno Racer.

It was also agreed upon that all racers shall use the same motor, propeller, and battery (battery will all be the same brand). Airframes may be modified to increase strength, but no modifications that would significantly modify flight characteristics will be allowed.

From the flier distributed by Jim Trump at the meeting:

  • Airplane: Phase3 P51-D Mustang
  • Motor: KMS Quantum 2208/12
  • ESC: Castle Creations Thunderbird 18AMP or KMS KBSC 18AMP
  • Airplanes and/or combos will be sold first to those who have previously signed up and will be allocated one combo or one airplane or one motor to each person on the list. There after additional airplanes, motors, or combos will be offered from open stock as available to any person who wishes to take advantage of the BCRCC Pylon Racing offer.

AMA Park Pilot Program

A motion was made, seconded, and unanimously approved to welcome holders of the new AMA Park Pilot membership into the club. This membership provides the same insurance benefits to the filed owner as does the full AMA membership. Benton County Parks has reviewed the AMA Park Pilot Program and found it satisfactory.

Table Top Replacement

Terry Brown brought in a sample of the sign board that is being considered for table top replacement. The material seems to withstand fuel well, showing only some discoloration where fuel was allowed to stand for several days (basically an oil stain). It was generally agreed that we will unlikely find anything better or cheaper than this material. Terry is looking into a source for the boards in Springfield. Tom Leach will experiment with applying stain to the material.

Regional Flying Site

Ted Lukins was in contact with Linn County regarding the large piece of land the county is seeking to offer community use. The county seemed open to idea of a locating a flying site there and Ted Lukins, Montana Harkin and Jim Trump have volunteered to put together a proposal for submission to the county.
